Once you have achieved your Certificate IV in Bookkeeping (or higher!), many bookkeepers aspire to enhance their skills through professional development and pursue BAS agent registration with the Tax Practitioners Board.
You can start your journey towards becoming a registered BAS agent as soon as you acquire your first client. This enables you to provide your own clients with the complete range of BAS services, offered under supervision.
Currently, the TPB mandates that you complete 1400 hours of BAS supervision, or 1000 hours if you are a member of a recognized association like the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers.
In collaborating with you towards your BAS registration, I aim to create a comfortable bookkeeping mentorship experience where you feel relaxed and supported, guiding you smoothly towards becoming an exceptional and professional BAS agent. I will assist your learning in any areas you need to strengthen your knowledge and provide feedback on your systems, processes, and professionalism.
We will establish a formal agreement signed by both parties, detailing the BAS supervision arrangement. Once you have completed the required 1000-1400 hours of supervised BAS service work, we can submit your application to the TPB and set you on your path!
To participate in a supervision plan focused on your BAS agent registration, you must already have your own clients or be employed as a bookkeeper. Please note, a supervision program is not designed as a work experience program.
We will have monthly 1:1 mentoring sessions to crunch the numbers with you, ensuring you understand your current standing in relation to BAS agent registration and BAS supervision. This will help you identify where you're excelling and where you may need to invest more time to get it right. It provides a solid foundation for our bookkeeping mentorship.
Between sessions, you are always welcome to get in touch, no matter what the enquiry. Whether it's about BAS agent registration, BAS supervision, bookkeeping mentorship, or any client troubles, no question is off limits. I'm even available if you just need to let off steam!
Our fees are based on the work we carry out, including BAS agent registration and bookkeeping mentorship, along with the record keeping of all hours you perform under our BAS supervision.
We will provide regular reports detailing the hours you have completed, along with sign-off on the necessary documentation for your BAS agent registration with the TPB. This will ensure you have the required BAS supervision and support throughout your bookkeeping mentorship.
We are an Associate Member of the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and adhere to their Code of Conduct regarding BAS supervision and BAS agent registration. To support your growth in bookkeeping mentorship, we offer a variety of resources, including spreadsheets and templates, ensuring you maintain the correct agreements with your clients.
You can get started building your client base right away, which will help you gain the experience needed for BAS agent registration. Along with this, you will receive bookkeeping mentorship and BAS supervision, ensuring you are supported every step of the way.
